FENSTER DIY INSTALLATION DISCLOSURE

Fenster DIY Installation Disclosure

Thank you for choosing Fenster for your window replacement and repair products. Fenster specializes in high-quality sash replacements, components, and kits designed for homeowners who want to confidently tackle their own window projects.

This disclosure provides important information about DIY installation, what Fenster is responsible for, and what you, as the homeowner, should plan for before starting your project.

1. Fenster Does Not Provide Installation Services

Fenster does not offer professional installation services or install products on customers’ behalf. All Fenster products are sold with the expectation that the homeowner (or a third-party installer engaged by the homeowner) will complete the installation. Fenster does not install windows, nor do we dispatch installers to job sites.

2. Homeowner Is Responsible for Installation

By purchasing Fenster products, you acknowledge that you are responsible for:

  • Accurate measurement and ordering of products for your specific windows. Use our measuring guides and checklists to get the correct dimensions.
  • Performing the installation properly and safely according to our product instructions and any applicable local building codes.
  • Organizing any tools, materials, scaffolding, ladders, helper(s), and safety equipment needed to complete the project.
  • Permits and inspections, if required by your city, county, or municipality.

If you choose to hire a contractor, you agree that the installer is not affiliated with Fenster, and all installation direction, payment, and coordination is between you and your chosen installer.

3. Warranty and Installation Workmanship

Fenster’s product warranties cover manufacturing defects in materials and workmanship as outlined in the product warranty documents.

However:

  • Fenster’s product warranties do not cover improperly installed products, nor damage resulting from installation errors, misuse, abuse, or failure to follow instructions.
  • Fenster is not liable for costs associated with improper installation, such as labor, corrective work, or re-ordering products due to incorrect sizing.

Tip: Refer to our blog tutorials for suggested best practices.

4. Safety and Best Practices

Window installation involves working with glass, tools, and often at heights. Always:

  • Wear proper safety gear (gloves, eye protection).
  • Use stable ladders and secure work surfaces.
  • Avoid working alone when handling large or heavy units.
  • Check local building codes — some areas require permits for window replacement, even in DIY projects.

5. Product Performance & Building Codes

Fenster products are engineered to perform when installed correctly. Proper installation helps ensure:

  • Weather tightness
  • Proper operation
  • Energy efficiency
  • Long-lasting performance

Different climates and structures may require specific flashing, sealing, or insulation techniques — review and follow building code requirements where applicable.

6. Assistance Resources

While Fenster does not install products, we do provide resources to support your DIY install:

  • Measuring and ordering checklist.
  • Video and blog tutorials demonstrating suggested best practices for DIY sash installation and hardware transfer.
  • Customer support for questions.

7. Summary

By ordering Fenster products, you accept:

  • You are responsible for installing them or arranging your own installer.
  • Fenster is not responsible for installation labor or workmanship.
  • Product warranties apply only to product quality issues, not installation errors.

If you’re unsure about your ability to install a product safely, we recommend consulting a qualified contractor before beginning your project.
